After collaborating with rock band Hooray The Earth and alt-R&B singer Autre Ne Veu, New York-based Jessica Zambri--of electro-pop duo Zambri--has branched off on her own endeavor, solo project, Solvey. Solvey doesn’t fit neatly into the pegs of any of the places she’s lived or bands she’s played with—the album “came out of nowhere,” according to Jessica, “like an alarm I knew I needed to respond to.” As with past efforts, the strength of her voice is the anchor for the songs, which are an amalgam of ethereal harmonies and bass guitar grit. Solvey is many things: a nickname coined by Jessica’s sister Catherine, the band’s name and the album title, in addition to the title of the first single. From nowhere and everywhere, a new word with a new meaning.
